William Charles Crowley, Artistic Director, conducted a Graham Technique master class at the Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, located at the Teatro Nacional de Cuba, Paseo y 39 Plaza de la Revolucion, in Havana, Cuba on Saturday, December 17, 2016.

Founded in 1959, the Danza Contemporanea de Cuba has developed a particular style from the basics of Cuban folklore and universal modern dance. The company is known as "la madre nutricia de la danza en la isla." (The nourishing mother of dance on the island.)

William taught at DCC as part of the People to People cultural exchange program. Implemented by the Obama administration, and overseen by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, this initiative allows for American citizens to travel to Cuba, while fulfilling a travel-related transaction in one of 12 authorized categories, which includes educational activities.

William was one of the first Americans ever to teach dance in Cuba since 1959. He was greatly honored and truly humbled to accept such an invitation, and hopes he represented not only the rich tradition of American modern dance, but America itself in a meaningful and respectful manner while amongst the Cuban people.
